My research interests focus on structural biology and biochemistry, and I have a particular interest in elucidating the structure and function of therapeutic compound targets that are implicated in disease or infection. I extensively studied cell signaling pathways in humans, and I am currently using that knowledge to exploit bacterial cell signaling. I am using computational approaches to streamline drug development and leverage work by industry to target these novel signaling pathways.
My career goal is to be a principal investigator. Specifically, I plan to do research in biochemistry/pharmacology and continue to apply my training in biochemistry and structural biology to investigate how protein conformational dynamics influence inhibitor binding. I am dedicated to mentoring a team of skilled scientists, and have thoroughly enjoyed seeing the development of the undergraduate and graduate students I have engaged with in these roles so far.
